Midnight that gave me light

I completed Midnight campaign couple of weeks ago and I want to talk about it. But it's not going to be talk you probably expect.

I am playing WoW since WoTLK and every expansion lands differently - some are closer to me and some don't leave a significant impression. But with Midnight.. I felt it deep and immersive. Every storyline, every character arc suddenly were lived and experienced emotionally. The tension of Sunwell power that protects and harms.. The anxiety of people just wanting to live in peaceful times. The grief of whole troll nation paying for the ego of their grandfather..

That intensity of course brought me to question - wow, is this expansion really so well written, or is it me? Most likely the real answer is - both, but I can't rule out that other expansions had the same depth and I simply wasn't ready to see it. I cannot help to think that it's my different narrative angle of seeing things that enabled new mental map of the world and its depth. It is the new meta-knowledge that allowed me to truly experience Midnight. I am learning narrative design and game development to be able to create a good story.. And that recoiled back to me and my perception of a good story.

And I truly hope the spiral continues.. Games that influence people so they can influence games that influence people.
